Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.—The eighth-ranked Hobart College hockey team fell to No. 5 Manhattanville 3-1 tonight, in another hard-fought ECAC West game at The Cooler. The Statesmen drop to 13-5-0 on the season and 3-5-0 in conference action, while the Valiants improve to 13-3-1 overall and 5-2-0 in the ECAC West.

AJ Mikkelsen (Chestermere, Alta.) scored the Valiants’ first goal of the day on a power play at 15:25. The game was knotted at 1-1 at the first intermission.
The second period featured four power play opportunities for Manhattanville. The Statesmen successfully killed the first three, but could not hold the Valiants off a fourth time. Chris Trafford (Kinburn, Ont.) slipped one by Hobart junior goaltender
Keith Longo (Hopedale, Mass.) with 51 seconds remaining in the period to give the visitors a 2-1 advantage, which they carried into the final break.
Trafford struck again in the third period at 12:22, assisted by Jason Murfitt (Ottawa, Ont.). Despite pulling Longo for the final three minutes of the game, Hobart could not get another goal past Valiant netminder Paul Reimer (Boissevain, Man.).
Manhattanville held a 36-29 advantage in shots, and was 2-for-6 on power play opportunities. Hobart was 1-for-5.
Longo recorded 33 saves for the Statesmen, while Reimer finished with 28 stops.
Hobart will be back in action on Feb. 1, when it travels to Lebanon Valley for an ECAC West contest at 7 p.m.
