Box Score SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—The Hobart basketball team completed a Liberty League weekend sweep with a 75-51 win over Union this afternoon. Three Statesmen recorded double digit point totals, led by first-year guard Rob Estep’s (West York/York, Pa.) 16.
Hobart (7-9, 2-3) shot 53.1 percent from the floor, including 61.9 percent in the second half. Senior forward John Grazioli (St. Anthony’s/Melville, N.Y.) contributed 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists, while first-year forward Adam Salzmann (Kingston/Connelly, N.Y.) posted his first double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Statesmen limited the Dutchmen (4-10, 0-5) to just 29.8 percent shooting as only Drew Desmarais scored more than eight points, finishing with a double-double of his own (17 pts, 10 reb).
Midway through the first half, Hobart used a 13-3 run to turn a one-point edge into an 11-point lead. Salzmann kick-started the surge with a traditional three-point play. The Statesmen carried a 40-29 advantage into halftime.
Hobart wiped out any thoughts of a comeback with a 14-0 run to start the second half. The Statesmen led by as many as 27 on their way to victory.
Hobart is back in action on Feb. 1, when the Statesmen host Clarkson. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
