Box Score WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.—The 10th-ranked Hobart College hockey team skated past host Williams College 6-1 in a non-league contest tonight. The Statesmen improved to 10-2-0 overall, while the Ephs dropped to 2-5-1 on the season.
Back in action after nearly a month without a game, the Statesmen got on the board early, netting two goals in the first three minutes, and never let up. First-year
Matthew Wallace (Skaneateles, N.Y.) tallied two goals and an assist, while classmate Tom Capalbo (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) added three assists on the night.
Junior
Ryan Adler (Piscataway, N.J.) netted the first goal of the game, which was immediately followed by a score from first-year
Patrick Moriarty (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.). Moriarty’s goal proved to be the eventual game-winner, assisted by Capalbo and Wallace.
Wallace wrapped up the first period scoring for the Statesmen with a tally of his own. Capalbo and junior Andrew Brennan (Milford, Mass.) recorded the helpers.
Hobart held a 3-1 advantage heading into the first break, and added to its lead by scoring twice in the second period, thanks to a shorthanded goal by sophomore
Nick DeCroo (Sarver, Pa.) and a tally from sophomore
Blake Bonham (Toronto, Ont.). Wallace added one more for the Statesmen in the third stanza to round out the scoring.
Junior goaltender
Keith Longo (Hopedale, Mass.) stopped 25 shots for his sixth win of the season.
Hobart will take the ice again on Jan. 9, when it travels to Geneseo (5-9-0) for a non-conference game at 3 p.m.
