#4 Hobart downs Rensselaer, 2-0

Box Score TROY, N.Y.—The fourth-ranked Hobart College soccer team defeated Rensselaer 2-0 this afternoon on Renwyck Field. The Statesmen remain unbeaten on the season with a 14-0-2 overall record and a 5-0-1 Liberty League mark, while the Red Hawks drop to 10-4-1 overall and 5-1-0 in the league.

Senior midfielder Philipp Schoeniger (Erlangen/Erlangen, Germany) started the scoring early for Hobart. He directed a pass from senior forward Dan Riso (Red Hook/Red Hook, N.Y.) to the lower left corner of the goal in the 10th minute to put the Statesmen up 1-0.

Hobart senior midfielder Tyler Webster (Acton Boxborough/Acton, Mass.) tallied his sixth goal of the year just over five minutes into the second half, as he buried a rebound from six yards in front of the goal. First-year Tommy Hayes (St. Anthony's/East Northport, N.Y.) took the original shot that bounced off an RPI defender and straight to Webster.

Senior goalkeeper Pete Van Dellon (Webster Thomas/Webster, N.Y.) collected two saves, while RPI goalie Alex Penny stopped five shots.

Hobart's two goals were the first goals allowed by the Red Hawks in Liberty League play this season. The Statesmen can secure the regular season conference title with a win tomorrow at Vassar.
