Herons begin 4 match road trip on Friday

GENEVA, N.Y.—After playing eight of its first 10 matches at home, the William Smith College field hockey team will begin a four-match road trip on Fri., Oct. 10, at Liberty League rival Union. The contest is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

The 16th-ranked Herons (8-2, 2-1) are tied with Skidmore and St. Lawrence for second place in the conference. The Dutchwomen (6-2, 1-2) are tied for fifth with Hamilton and Rochester.

Junior forward Kaitlyn Hamilton (Harpursville/Harpursville, N.Y.) leads William Smith on the offensive end of the field. She ranks second in the conference in points per game (1.9) and goals per game (0.8). Defensively, senior goalie Katie DeKraker (Staples/Westport, Conn.) has a league-low 0.86 goals against average to go along with a league-high three shutouts.

Kelsey Powers paces the Union offense with 11 points (5g, 1a), while goalies Liz Stanford (1.19 GAA, .793 SV%) and Sarah Rios (1.00 GAA, .625 SV%) have split time in the cage.

Union will provide live online coverage of the match, including Live Stats and streaming video. To watch the match, viewers must have access to a high-speed Internet connection and pay $4.95 for a 24-hour pass to Union's streaming video.

After tangling with the Dutchwomen, William Smith will visit No. 20 Skidmore (6-3, 2-1) on Sat., Oct. 11. The match is slated to start at 2 p.m. The Thoroughbreds will have Live Stats available on their Web site.

Skidmore's Elise Britt leads the conference in points per game (2.22) and goals per game (1.11). Goalie Liz Catinella has a 1.19 GAA and an .818 save percentage.
