#11 Statesmen down Colonels, 6-3

Box Score The 11th-ranked Hobart College hockey team downed Curry 6-3 tonight in The Cooler. The Statesmen improve to 7-3-0 overall, while the Colonels pick up their first loss of the season, falling to 4-1-0.

Junior Nick DeCroo (Sarver, Pa.) led Hobart with two goals and an assist, while senior Ryan Adler (Piscataway, N.J.), sophomore Daniel Organ (Simi, Calif.), junior Aleksey Koval (Kiev, Ukraine), and junior Drew Wadsworth (Arlington, Va.) all tallied as well.

Leading Curry was Jason Tarbell and John Williams, each with a goal and a helper.

The Colonels scored in the seventh minute of action, thanks to a goal from Louis Hoey. Adler and Organ would answer for the Statesmen before the period ended, giving the hosts a 2-1 lead at the first break. Sophomore Alex Contis (Celabasas, Calif.) recorded an assist on Adler's goal.

At 3:21 the second period, Tarbell and Williams connected to begin the scoring and even the score at 2-all, but DeCroo responded with back-to-back goals in the eighth and 10th minutes to return the lead to Hobart, 4-2. Sophomore Tom Capalbo (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) picked up an assist on DeCroo's first goal.

Williams cut Curry's deficit to one again just 37 seconds after Hobart's fourth tally, but Koval would finish a play from senior Bryant Harris (Plainfield, N.H.) in the 15th minute to answer. The Statesmen took a 5-3 lead into the final break.

DeCroo and Capalbo set up Wadsworth for Hobart's sixth goal of the night in the 18th minute to round out the scoring.

First-year Statesmen goalie Colin Saltiel (Melford, N.J.) collected 31 saves en route to his second win of the season, while Zachary Cardella and Steven Jakiel combined for 35 stops for Curry. Hobart outshot the Colonels 41-34.

The Statesmen will be back in action Nov. 30, when they travel to Wentworth for a non-league contest at 2:15 p.m.
