Estep's 26 leads Statesmen over Express

Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.--Sophomore Rob Estep scored 26 points to lead Hobart to a 74-62 victory over Wells in Bristol Gym tonight. He was 8-of-15 shooting, with a three, and 9-of-10 from the line, while also recording a game-high five steals.

Sophomores Adam Salzmann and Mark Bruce joined Estep in double figures with 13 points apiece. Hobart (2-4) shot a season-high 53.1 percent from the floor, connecting on 9-of-17 from behind the arc.

The Express (1-6) was led by Darrell Bullock's double-double, finishing with game-highs of 27 points and 10 rebounds. Wells shot just 36.2 percent from the floor (5-16 from behind the arc) and knocked down just 15-of-27 from the free throw line.

Hobart never trailed by more than one point in the contest, and never trailed again after Bruce's jumper at the 13:59 mark of the first half put the Statesmen in front 12-11. The Express pulled even, 19-19, on a breakaway dunk by Bullock, but sophomore Tim Llewellyn (6 pts, 5 asst, 4 stls) answered with a three-pointer at the other end of the floor to put Hobart in front for good.

The Statesmen led 31-25 at halftime and saw its lead buoy between three and 15 in the second half, leading by 10 or more over the final eight minutes of the contest.

Hobart is back in action on Dec. 9, when the Statesmen visit the University of Rochester. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
