Box Score CANTON, N.Y.--The William Smith basketball team lost its first Liberty League game 71-55 at St. Lawrence tonight. The loss snapped the Herons 15-game winning streak.
Sophomore forward
Erin Cunningham was the lone William Smith (18-2, 9-1) player to reach double digits, finishing the night with 12 points. The Herons shot better than their hosts from the floor (43.8-41.3) and the line (76.9-66.7), but committed a season-high matching 22 turnovers.
Jamie Wolff led three St. Lawrence (18-4, 8-3) players in double digits with a game-high 22 points.
SLU used a 19-6 first half run to break an 11-all tie and carried a 34-26 lead into halftime.
The Herons scored the first five points to get within three, 34-31, but the Saints responded with a 16-4 surge that restored their double digit lead, an advantage they maintained throughout the rest of the contest.
William Smith is back in action at 2 p.m. on Feb. 16, when they visit Clarkson.
