#10 Herons breeze past Knights 75-57

Box Score POTSDAM, N.Y.--Senior guard Marisa Vespa produced a double-double and the 10th-ranked William Smith basketball team forced 36 Clarkson turnovers as the Herons topped the Golden Knights 75-57. Vespa scored a team-high 15 points and game-highs of 10 assists and six steals in the Liberty League contest.

Junior guard Latasha Coney added 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds for the victors, while senior forward Stephanie Czajkowski and first-year guard Mollie Danahy chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Michelle Reddinger notched a game-high 16 points as the only Clarkson player in double digits.

William Smith (19-2, 10-1) scored the first four points of the game and held the lead throughout the contest. The Herons steadily pulled away and, with five unanswered points midway through the first half, William Smith pushed its lead into double digits for good.

The Herons led by as many as 16 in the opening 20 minutes and carried a 48-34 lead into halftime. William Smith hit six of its season-high nine three-pointers before the break, including two each by Vespa and junior guard Paige Myers (8 pts).

After the intermission, Clarkson (3-20, 1-11) weren't able to mount a comeback. The Knights deficit ranged from 10 to 22 in the second stanza.

The Herons are back in action on Feb. 19, when they host Hamilton. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
