Box Score ELMIRA, N.Y.—The eighth-ranked Hobart College hockey team tied second-ranked Elmira College 3-3 in overtime, in an ECAC West contest tonight. The Statesmen are now 15-5-1 overall and 5-5-1 in league play, while the Soaring Eagles move to 17-1-3, 9-1-1.

Hobart senior captain Shawn Houde (Manchester, N.H.) tallied the first goal of the game on a power play at the 14 minute, 18 second mark of the first period. Sophomore Nick DeCroo (Sarver, Pa.) and junior Bryant Harris (Plainfield, N.H.) set up the play.

Elmira’s Nicolas Dumoulin answered less than three minutes later, tying the game at 1-1, but first-year Statesman Patrick Moriarty (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) put the visitors ahead again less than a minute later with his 10th goal of the season. First-year Tom Capalbo (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) and junior Ryan Adler (Piscataway, N.J.) set up the score that gave Hobart the slim 2-1 lead at the first break.

Three minutes, 43 seconds into the second period, Dumoulin struck again for the Soaring Eagles, locking the game at 2-all.

Hobart first-year Daniel Organ (Simi, Calif.) lit the lamp at 10:59 with an unassisted, shorthanded goal. The score marked the team’s program-record 13th shorthanded of the season.

The Statesmen defended their lead for the remainder of the game, as evidenced by Elmira’s substantial 23-1 advantage in shots in the third period. The Soaring Eagles’ Stefan Schoen eventually slipped the game-tying goal past Hobart junior goalie Keith Longo (Hopedale, Mass.) on a power play with 3:11 remaining in regulation.

Overall, Elmira outshot the Statesmen 44-16. Longo finished with 41 saves, while counterpart Casey Tuttle collected just 13.

The Statesmen were 1-of-2 on power play opportunities tonight, while the Soaring Eagles were 1-for-8.

Hobart will return to The Cooler for its final four games of the regular season. The Statesmen will host ECAC West foe Utica on Feb. 15 at 7 p.m.
