GENESEO, N.Y.—The William Smith tennis team improved to 8-5 on the season with a 7-2 victory over Geneseo this afternoon. The loss drops the Blue Knights to 13-2.

In doubles play, junior Chelsea Rauck and sophomore Shari Damon won for the sixth consecutive time, improving their season mark to 8-3 with a hard-fought 9-8 win at No. 1 over Kristen Greiner and Erika Pumple. The Heron tandem of senior Erinn Cain and sophomore Meredith Levenson at No. 3 also won.

In singles action, five of the six matches went three sets with William Smith prevailing in four of the five. Rauck, Damon, Cain and first-year Melissa Slack won extended matches, while first-year Gaby Berkman raised her team-leading singles mark to 12-2 win a straight set win at No. 5.

The Herons are back in action on April 19, when they travel to Cortland for a 1 p.m. match.
