#11 Herons fall to #5 Continentals

Box Score CLINTON, N.Y.—The 11th-ranked William Smith College lacrosse team fell to fifth-ranked Hamilton College 19-3 this afternoon in Liberty League action. The Herons suffer their first loss of the season, dropping to 11-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference, while the Continentals improve to 12-1 on the season and 5-0 in league play.

Sophomore Sarah Goodkind (Millbrook School/Greenwich, Conn.) led William Smith with two goals, while first-year Cassie Findlay (Episcopal/Riverside, Conn.) tallied once. First-year Lexi Walston (Suffield Academy/Farmington, Conn.) added an assist, and junior Torie Allen (Governor Dummer Academy/Dedham, Mass.) picked up three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Hamilton was led by Kaillie Briscoe’s five goals and one assist. Nicole Tetreault and Audrey Nerbergall each recorded four goals and a helper for the hosts as well.

Junior Becky Josefiak (West Seneca East/West Seneca, N.Y.) collected six saves for William Smith in goal. Continental goalie Kate Fowler also stopped six shots.

The Herons will be in action again tomorrow, April 19, when they travel to Rochester for another Liberty League match up at 2 p.m.
