SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The William Smith tennis team lost to regionally ranked Skidmore (#10) 7-2 today. The Herons slip to 6-4, while the Thoroughbreds improve to 8-6.

Junior Chelsea Rauck (Columbus School for Girls/Bexley, Ohio) and sophomore Shari Damon (HFL/Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) earned William Smith’s first point, defeating Rachel Loeb and Danielle Fancher at first doubles 9-7. Loeb/Fancher are the ninth ranked doubles team in the Northeast, according to the ITA.

The Herons also got a singles win at No. 6 by first-year Gaby Berkman (Champlain Valley Union/Shelburne, Vt.). She defeated Ashley McEvoy 7-5, 7-5 to run her singles record to a team-best 10-1.

William Smith is back in action on April 12, when the Herons host St. Lawrence at 11 a.m.
