GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College soccer team will host Scranton on Cozzens Field tomorrow, Aug. 30, for its home-opening match at 11 a.m. The Herons are currently ranked sixth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) preseason poll.

William Smith wrapped up the 2007 season with a 17-1-1 overall mark, after winning the Liberty League Championship and making its 18th NCAA Tournament appearance. Last fall's leading scorer and the League's Rookie of the Year, sophomore forward Brelynn Nasypany (Herkimer/Herkimer, N.Y.) returns to lead the Heron offense. She netted 13 goals, including five game-winners, and added five assists last year.
The Royals posted a 9-9-2 record last year, and took home the Landmark Conference Championship to end the season. Scranton returns its second-leading scorer, sophomore Chelsea Paskman (Central Bucks South/Chalfont, Pa.), who notched five goals and three assists.
William Smith and Scranton met last September in the Gettysburg Tournament, where the Herons prevailed 2-0.
Tracy Stankavage '08 and
Laura Burnett-Kurie '08 were responsible for the two goals, while junior
Megan Stevens (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) recorded two assists.
