Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Hobart College soccer team defeated RIT 2-1 this afternoon in the final game of the Doug May Classic. First-year
Clancy Purcell (Shelton/Shelton, Conn.) found senior forward
Dan Riso (Red Hook/Red Hook, N.Y.) for both Statesmen goals, helping them improve to 2-0-0 on the season. The Tigers fell to 1-1-0 overall.
Riso and Purcell made their first connection 33 minutes, 7 seconds into the match, as a corner kick from Purcell was directed into the goal by a diving header from Riso. Purcell tallied three assists on the weekend, and was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player for his efforts, while Riso earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
RIT evened the game at 67:46, after Tiger Bobby Bullard knocked in a free kick that teammate Bret Dietz took from 35 yards out.
With less than three minutes remaining in regulation, Purcell took a free kick and once again found Riso, this time for the game-winning score.

Pete Van Dellon (Webster Thomas/Webster, N.Y.) recorded one save and the win. Van Dellon was also tabbed the tournament's Most Outstanding Defender.
The Statesmen, currently ranked 20th by the NSCAA, will be back in action on Sept. 6, when they host Utica at 1 p.m. on Cozzens Field.
