The William Smith field hockey team, ranked 12th in the NFHCA preseason poll, will open the 2008 season on Wed., Sept. 3, at 7 p.m., when the Herons play host to Elmira. The McCooey Field showdown will be carried live in the Geneva area by WHWS-FM (105.7). Veteran sportscaster Ted Baker will describe all of the action.
