The Hobart College hockey team will host Lebanon Valley College for two ECAC West games this weekend, Jan. 23-24. The Statesmen are ranked ninth in the nation according to the latest USCHO.com poll, marking the third week in a row Hobart has held the position. The Statesmen improved to 12-4-0 overall with two victories last week, 5-3 over Morrisville State and 4-1 over Geneseo State.
Friday's game is set for 7 p.m. On Sat., the Statesmen will host Veterans Recognition Day sponsored by First Niagara Bank. Prior to the 4 p.m. faceoff, First Niagara will present donations to both the Wounded Warrior Project and the Geneva American Legion. Junior forward
Nick DeCroo (Sarver, Pa.) led the Statesmen past the Mustangs, netting three goals to tie the Hobart record for goals in a game. Junior forward
Blake Bonham (Toronto, Ontario) also tied the record earlier this year, notching a hat trick of his own in a 5-4 overtime win at Neumann. DeCroo leads the team and ranks second in the ECAC West with 12 goals.
Senior goalie
Keith Longo (Milford, Mass.) picked up his 10th win of the season in net vs. the Knights, and now ranks second in the conference with a .917 save percentage. He is four wins away from tying his own record for wins in a season.
Lebanon Valley comes to Geneva with a 0-16-0 overall mark, and a 0-7-0 ECAC West record. First-year Nicholas Schultz leads the Dutchmen with a team-high six goals, while sophomore Brad Surdam has recorded a team-best six assists. Both have a team-high 10 points on the year. Hobart owns an 11-0-1 series lead since Lebanon Valley joined the ECAC West league in 2004-05.
