The William Smith College soccer team is ranked 12th in Division III, according to the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll. The Herons slipped a few spots after suffering a 1-0 loss at Oneonta on Saturday. In this week's D3soccer.com ranking, William Smith sits at No. 14.
Junior forward
BreLynn Nasypany has paced the Heron offense thus far. She leads the team in all scoring categories with six goals, including four game-winners, five assists, and 17 points. In the Liberty League, she ranks second in game-winning goals, fifth in both points and assists, and sixth in goals.
Close behind Nasypany in the points column are first-years forward
Renee Jensen and midfielder
Whitney Frary. Jensen has racked up four goals and three helpers, while Frary has notched three goals and four assists.
Sophomore
Amanda Davis has stood strong in goal all year. She owns a 9-3-1 mark, and sits atop the Liberty League in goals against average (0.45) and shutouts (7), and ranks fourth in saves (50). Davis also ranks 15th in the nation in goals against average and 20th in save percentage (0.893).
The Herons (9-3-1, 4-0-1 Liberty League) will be back in action on Oct. 24, when they host Skidmore (11-2-1, 5-0-0 LL) for a conference match at 3 p.m. The Thoroughbreds currently hold the top spot in the Liberty League standings, while William Smith is second.
