#19 Hobart, Fredonia play to 2-2 draw

Box Score
GENEVA, N.Y.—The 19th-ranked Hobart College soccer team and Fredonia played to a 2-2 double-overtime draw this afternoon on Cozzens Field. The Statesmen move to 7-1-2 on the season, while the Blue Devils now stand at 4-4-2 overall.

All four of the game's goals were scored in the second half. Hobart struck first, as first-year Will Abbott tallied just 47 seconds into the second stanza. He found himself with the ball on the right side of the goal after a scramble in front, and his shot from about 8 yards out put the Statesmen up 1-0.

Dagel answered for the Blue Devils in the 64th minute, after Paine chipped it to him for a breakaway one-on-one shot vs. Hobart goalie Charlie Hale.

Just over 10 minutes later, first-year Statesmen Alex Kittelberger headed in Hobart's second goal of the day, following a corner kick from sophomore Michael Moulton.

In the 83rd minute, Dagel found the back of the net again, again he was assisted by Paine.

Both teams registered 14 shots, but the Statesmen held a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal.

Hale finished with four saves, while Thom Cavanaugh collected seven saves for Fredonia.

Hobart will be back in action on Oct. 9, when the Statesmen travel to St. Lawrence for a Liberty League contest at 4 p.m.
