Box Score GRANTHAM, Pa.—The William Smith field hockey team suffered a 6-1 defeat at top-ranked Messiah this afternoon. The Herons fall to 6-4, while the Falcons improve to 9-0.
Messiah, which boasted six different goal scorers on the day, charged out to a 4-0 halftime lead. The Falcons tapped in two more tallies before the second half was five minutes old.
William Smith broke up the shutout in the 66th minute when
Kiersten Hamilton finished a feed from
Megan Moll.
Taryn Little played the first half in the cage for the Herons, making five saves.
Chelsea Snyder made three stops in the second half.
Natalie Blauvelt notched a defensive save for William Smith.
William Smith will look to snap its four-game slide on Oct. 9, when the Herons host Rensselaer. That match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. on McCooey Field.
