Hobart College first-year forward
Chris Cannizzaro was named the ECAC West Rookie of the Week, after leading the Statesmen hockey team in two league games over the weekend, while junior forward
Christopher Bower and first-year goalie Martin Ausserhofer were both named to the ECAC West's Weekly Honor Roll. Hobart defeated Lebanon Valley 9-1 and tied Neumann 5-5 in overtime, and is ranked 14th in the latest USCHO.com poll.
The Statesmen topped the Flying Dutchmen on Friday thanks to a three-goal, two-assist performance from Cannizzaro. His five-point effort tied the Hobart record for points in a game, set by Andy Boschetto against Neumann on Nov. 8, 2002. Cannizzaro lit the lamp again on Saturday vs. the Knights. He currently leads ECAC West with seven goals and 12 points.
Bower recorded two goals and two helpers on the weekend. He tallied twice, including the game-winner, vs. Lebanon Valley, and notched two assists the next night against Neumann. Bower has netted all three of Hobart's game-winning goals this season, and is tied for the league lead in that category. He ranks second on the team and fourth in the ECAC West in points (10).
Ausserhofer picked up the victory over the Flying Dutchmen in his first collegiate start between the pipes. He collected 26 saves and allowed just one goal, posting a .963 save percentage.
The Statesmen hold a 3-3-2 overall record and are 1-1-1 in the ECAC West. Hobart will host 11th-ranked Elmira (5-2-0, 2-0-0 ECACW) for two conference games this weekend, Nov. 20-21. The puck will drop at 7 p.m. on Friday and at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Fans unable to make it to The Cooler can listen to the games live on
