Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.—The 14th-ranked Hobart College hockey team fell to 11th-ranked Elmira College 2-0 in an ECAC West game today at The Cooler. The Statesmen drop to 3-4-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the conference, while the Soaring Eagles improve to 7-2-0 on the year and 4-0-0 in the ECAC West.
After a scoreless opening period, Elmira connected on two shots in the second to grab a 2-0 lead. John Clewlow tallied the first Soaring Eagle goal just 1 minute, 53 seconds into the period, off a pass from Kevin Willer. In the 11th minute, Rusty Masters netted a power play goal to increase the visitors' lead. Greg Moore and Willer set up the play.
The teams played a scoreless third period as well, despite the Statesmen outshooting the Soaring Eagles 13-8 in the stanza.
Overall, Hobart outshot Elmira 35-28, paced by first-year
Chris Cannizzaro's five shots. The Statesmen were 0-for-7 on power play opportunities, while the Soaring Eagles were 1-for-7.
First-year goalie
Nick Broadwater collected 26 saves for Hobart, while Casey Tuttle stopped all 35 shots he faced in net for Elmira.
The Statesmen will be back in action on Nov. 29, when they travel to Cortland for a non-league game at 7 p.m.
