Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Hobart basketball team lost to Skidmore 72-59 in the season finale for both teams. The Statesmen end the year with an 8-17 overall record, 5-9 in the conference, while the Thoroughbreds finish 8-17, 3-11.
Skidmore never trailed, carrying its largest lead of the opening 20 minutes into halftime, 34-21. After the intermission, the Thoroughbreds maintained a double digit lead throughout, inflating their advantage to as many as 20.
First-year forward
Matt Pebole led the Statesmen with 15 points, while sophomore guard
Rob Estep went 8-of-9 from the free throw line to finish with 10 points.
Gerard O'Shea led three Thoroughbreds in double figures with 13 points, hitting 3-of-5 from three-point range. Jake Shechtman added 12 points and six rebounds, while Jeff Altimar also added 12 points.
Hobart held a 41-37 edge on the glass and committed two fewer turnovers (16-14), but struggled from the floor, converting just 30.6 percent. The Statesmen broke the team's season record for three-pointers made (191, 10 more than the old mark), but managed just three triples on 25 tries today.
