The Hobart College hockey team will host Neumann for the ECAC West Tournament Championship on Sat., March 7, at 7 p.m. Hockey Helpers will be accepting donations throughout the game, and fans who make a donation will receive a “Cooler Hat.” The orange stocking hats have the Hockey Helpers and Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) logos on it. Proceeds will benefit both the Hockey Helpers and the WWP.
The Statesmen are ranked fourth in the nation in this week's USCHO.com poll, and are ranked third in the East Region according to the latest NCAA Division III Regional Poll. Hobart owns a 19-5-2 overall record, and will play for the program's second ECAC West Championship on Saturday.
Hobart owns a 17-5-1 all-time series advantage vs. the Knights, including a 2-1-0 edge in three meetings this winter. The Statesmen offense is led by junior forwards
Nick DeCroo (Sarver, Pa.) (20 goals-9 assists) and
Bobby Cahill (Farmington Hills, Mich.) (9-20). DeCroo leads the ECAC West in goals, while Cahill shares third place in the league in assists with sophomore teammate
Tom Capalbo (Mamaroneck, N.Y.). Senior goalie
Keith Longo (Milford, Mass.) anchors the defense with a conference-best .935 save percentage and a 2.24 goals against average.
Neumann brings a 16-9-2 mark to Geneva. The Knights earned a spot in the conference final by defeating top-seeded Elmira 2-1 last weekend. Senior Kyle Casey leads the offense with an ECAC West-high 37 points and 28 assists, while junior Matt Ward ranks second in the league in goals (19), trailing only DeCroo. Neumann first-year goaltender Ross MacKinnon has posted a .902 save percentage and a 2.74 goals against average.
Ticket prices are $5 for general admission, and $3 for children under 12 and HWS and Neumann students with a valid ID. Advance sale tickets will be available in Bristol Gym Room 205 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on March 5-6. Credit card orders can be made by calling (315) 781-3077 during sale hours.
