The Hobart College soccer team is ranked sixth in Division III, according to the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll. The Statesmen recorded a 1-0-1 week, defeating St. John Fisher 2-0 on Sept. 15, and tying 20th-ranked Rochester 0-0 on Sept. 20.
Liberty League Co-Defensive Performer of the Week
Charlie Hale led Hobart with 11 saves in two games. He picked up his fourth and fifth shutouts of the year, and lowered his goals against average to 0.16. Hale, who collected a career-high eight stops vs. the Yellowjackets, owns an impressive .955 save percentage.
Sophomore
Tony Yeboah and junior
Kevin McCarthy were responsible for the two Hobart goals vs. the Cardinals. Yeboah finished a give-and-go play with first-year
Will Abbott in the 24th minute for the game-winner, while McCarthy put back a rebounded shot from sophomore
Chris King for an insurance tally early in the second half.
The unbeaten Statesmen are also the top-ranked team in the East Region for the second week in a row, and held at No. 8 in this week's D3Soccer.com poll. Hobart will continue its seven-game homestand on Sept. 25, when the Statesmen host Vassar (5-2-0) for their first Liberty League match of the season at 4 p.m. Fans unable to make it to Cozzens Field can follow along online with live stats, available at www.HWSAthletics.com.
