Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Rochester field hockey team scored with no time remaining to lift the Yellowjackets to a 2-1 victory over William Smith at Fauver Stadium tonight. Amanda Case scored the unassisted, game-winning goal on a penalty corner at the end of regulation.
The Herons (6-3, 0-3) needed less than a minute to open the night's scoring. Senior
Janelle Walkley drove home a shot from 10-yards out, off an assist from classmate
Kaitlyn Hamilton, to give the visitors a 1-0 lead just 58 seconds into the match.
Rochester evened the score in the 10th minute when Kyra Pinsky finished a scramble in front of the William Smith cage.
The Herons held a dominating advantage in shots (22-6) and penalty corners (14-6), but struggled to solve Yellowjacket keeper Danielle Pearson. She finished the night with a season-high 15 saves and also benefited from defensive saves by Sarah Dixon and Darragh Kerr.
First-year
Taryn Little made three stops for William Smith.
The Herons are back in action at 1 p.m. on Oct. 30, when they travel to Messiah.
