The Hobart College soccer team moved up two spots to No. 10 in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll. The Statesmen notched two victories in the Doug May Classic over the weekend.
Hobart handily defeated RIT 3-0 and Nazareth 4-1 in its first two matches of the year. Sophomore forward
Tommy Hayes led the charge vs. the Golden Flyers. He had a hand in all four Statesmen goals, scoring two and assisting two, and tying the program record for points in a game (6). Hayes was dubbed the Liberty League's Co-Performer of the Week for his efforts.
Against the Tigers, it was sophomore midfielder
Michael Moulton who paced the offense, netting two of Hobart's three goals.
First-years
Will Abbott,
Reuben Burk, and
Caetano Sanchez each picked up their first collegiate assist in the opening weekend of action.
The Statesmen (2-0-0), who are also ranked second in the East region, will be back in action tomorrow, Sept. 9, when they travel to Utica (1-1-0) for a non-conference game at 4:30 p.m.
