GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart senior
Patrick Moriarty with 2 minutes, 31 seconds remaining in regulation to secure the 6-5 win for the Statesmen hockey team over No. 11 Elmira in an ECAC West game played tonight at The Cooler. Hobart improves to 2-2-1 overall and 2-2-0 in conference play, while Elmira is now 3-4-1 and 2-2-0 in the ECAC West.

Matthew Wallace scored three goals to tie the Hobart record for most goals in a game. He also earned two assists. It was Moriarty's first goal of the seaosn, and he also contributed four assists.
The Statesmen jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period. Sophomore

Harry Radovich each scored their first goals of the season, and Wallace added a power-play goal.
Elmira came out strong in the second period, scoring three straight goals in the opening 2:46. Junior Kevin Willer scored the first just 16 seconds into the period. Junior Darcy Vailancourt scored 1:27 in, and sophomore Mark Morikawa tied up the game at three.
The Statesmen took back the lead right away. Wallace scored back-to-back goals at 3:00 in and at 11:41 into the second to give Hobart a 5-3 lead. Wallace now leads the Statesmen with five goals this season.
The Soaring Eagles would not go away quietly. First-year Jesper Strale scored a power-play goal 15:29 into the third period to make it 5-4. Junior Martin Lee added another power-play goal at 15:50 in the third to tie the game for a second time.
Moriarty put the game-winner into the back of the net 17:29 into the final period. Wallace and junior Gregory Ciciola earned the assists. Elmira pulled their goalie with 1:10 remaining to try to tie up the game again, but they could not find the equalizer.
The Statesmen held a 35-34 edge in shots, and went 3-for-6 on the power play. Elmira was 3-for-8 on the power play. Sophomore
Nick Broadwater finished with 29 saves in goal for Hobart. Sophomore Darren McDonald played the first period in goal for the Soaring Eagles and tallied 12 saves. Senior Kevin Bolin came in at the start of the second period played 38:50 and recorded 17 saves.
The Statesmen return to action tomorrow, Nov. 20, when they host Geneseo for a non-conference game beginning at 7 p.m.
