GENEVA, N.Y.—The sixth-ranked Manhattanville College hockey team scored 15 minutes, 4 seconds into the third period and added an empty net goal before time expired to defeat Hobart 3-1 in an ECAC West game tonight at The Cooler. The Valiants improve to 3-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play, while the Statesmen are now 0-2-0 and 0-2-0 in the ECAC West.
Manhattanville got on the scoreboard first just 1:30 into the first period. Senior Mickey Lang scored his fourth goal of the season off assists from senior Lem Randall and sophomore Scott Hudson.
Hobart tied up the game 9:37 into the second period. Senior

The Valiants took back the lead 15:04 into the third. Junior Evan Michalchuk scored his third goal of the season, and senior Sahsa Romanenko and first-year Brian Elser were credited with assists. The Statesmen pulled sophomore goalie
Nick Broadwater for the final 1:54 in an attempt to get the game-tying goal. However, junior Marcus von Sydow scored an empty net goal with one second left on the clock for the final margin.
Broadwater finished with 27 saves in goal for Hobart. Manhattanville junior goalie Pierre-Oliver Lemieux recorded 28 saves. The Valiants held a slight 30-29 advantage in shots. Both teams were 0-for-5 on the power play.
The Statesmen will be back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 9, when they host Cortland for a non-conference game at The Cooler at 7p.m.
