Statesmen hold off Utica 4-1

Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College hockey team held on for a 4-1 victory over ECAC West foe Utica tonight at The Cooler. Ten different Statesmen registered a point as Hobart improved to 13-9-2 overall and 9-4-1 in the conference. The Pioneers slip to 8-13-3 on the season and 4-9-1 in the ECAC West.

First-year Chris Cannizzaro netted his 11th goal of the year six minutes, 32 seconds into the contest. Classmate Bobby Hannah and senior Jordan Zitoun set up Cannizzaro, who caught Utica goalie Kyle Guestin moving and capitalized on a nearly open net.

In the second period, sophomore Gregory Ciciola tallied the eventual game-winner on a power play. Juniors Matthew Wallace and Patrick Moriarty passed between themselves behind the goal before finding Ciciola in front of the net for the shot.

The third period was scoreless until the final minute, when seniors Gregory Alberti and Bobby Cahill both scored on the Pioneers' empty net, putting Hobart ahead 4-1. Seniors Blake Bonham and Bryant Harris assisted on Cahill's goal.
