PITTSFORD, N.Y.—Senior
Emily Atwan produced her first career hat trick to rally the William Smith field hockey team from a two-goal deficit to a 4-2 victory at Nazareth today. The victory improved the Herons' record to 2-0, while the Golden Flyers are 0-1.
William Smith held a lopsided 16-5 advantage in shots in the opening 35 minutes, but Nazareth goalie Kelsey Evans registered 11 of her 14 saves in the first half to stymie the visitors.
At the other end of the field, Sarah Wazenkewitz and Jordan Mitchell scored in the 11th and 19th minutes, respectively, to put the Golden Flyers up 2-0 going into halftime. Kailee O'Hara assisted on both markers.

Kiersten Hamilton in the 42nd minute to half William Smith's deficit. Five minutes later, sophomore
Annie Kietzman scored an unassisted goal to knot the match.
Atwan gave the Herons the lead in the 65th minute with an unassisted strike and then added an insurance goal with 36 seconds left in the match. First-year
Taylor Cappello was credited with an assist on the final goal.
William Smith sophomore goalie
Taryn Little made one first half save, while senior
