The Hobart basketball team will host two Liberty League contests this weekend in Bristol Gym. The Statesmen will take on Skidmore tonight at 8 p.m., and will face Union on Saturday with tipoff set for 4 p.m.
Hobart comes into tonight's game with a 9-3 overall record, the program's best start since the 1978-79 season. The Statesmen opened league play with a 65-62 win over Hamilton on Monday.
Hobart is led in scoring by sophomore guard
Stefan Thompson. He is averaging 16.1 ppg, and also contributing 4.3 rpg and 4.3 apg. Junior forward

Pebole, who earned a spot on the Liberty League Team of the Week for the fifth time this season, ranks fourth in the conference in scoring, fifth in field goal percentage (46 percent), and eighth in rebounding (5.6 rpg) and free throw shooting (80.8 percent). Richie Bonney is leading the Statesmen and ranks fourth in the league with 7.3 rpg. Bonney was selected Co-Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, and is shooting a team-best 52.1 percent from the floor.
The Statesmen started off this week among the nation's leaders in both scoring margin and rebounding margin. Hobart has outscored opposition by 14.7 ppg, which ranks them 12th in the country, and the Statesmen are 15th in the nation, outrebounding their opponents by 8.0 rpg.
Skidmore comes to Geneva with a 7-4 overall record and 1-0 mark in the Liberty League after defeating Union 67-41 on Tuesday. Melvis Langyintuo is leading the Thoroughbreds averaging 13.1 ppg and grabbing a team-high 6.3 rpg. Jeff Altimar is second adding 11.5 ppg and 3.5 rpg. Gerrard O'Shea has earned a team best 25 steals and 46 assists this season.
Prior to playing Hamilton tonight, Union is 8-4 overall and 0-1 in league play. Keven Donohue leads the Dutchmen's scoring effort at 13.8 ppg and is collecting 5.7 rpg. Joe Mason is second with 12.2 ppg and is dishing out a team-high 5.5 apg. Matt Covucci is Union's top rebounder at 6.6 rpg.
