FREDONIA, N.Y. –
The No. 15 Hobart hockey team's winning streak ended at six games, as the Statesmen dropped a non-conference game 5-3 to Fredonia tonight. Hobart is now 8-4-1, and the Blue Devils improve to 6-8-0.

Fredonia's Chris de Bruyn opened the scoring with a power-play goal 11 minutes, 35 seconds into the first period. Senior Christopher Bower tied the game at one, 7 minutes, 51 seconds into the second period.

Jordan Oye took back the lead for Fredonia at 9:30, but the Statesmen would not go away quietly. First-year Tommy Fiorentino tied the game at two with his fifth goal of the season 12:28 into the second stanza. Seniors Tommy Capalbo and Josh Taylor earned the assists. Mat Hehr gave the Blue Devils a 3-2 lead at the 14:05 mark.

In the third period, Steve Rizer scored the Blue Devils' third power-play goal of the game to give his team a 4-2 lead. Hobart goaltender sophomore Nick Broadwater left the net with 2:25 remaining and it paid off when sophomore Brad Richard scored from the point. Sophomore Harry Radovich and senior Patrick Moriarty were credited with assists.

The shift of momentum was shortlived as Oye capped the scoring with a goal into an empty net with just nine seconds remaining.

Mark Friesen finished with 23 saves for Fredonia, and Broadwater stopped 24 shots. The Statesmen were 1-for-5 on the power play, and the Blue Devils were 2-for-9. Fredonia held a 29-26 advantage in shots.

The Statesmen return to action on Jan. 11 when they travel to Buffalo State for another non-conference game at 7 p.m.
