PITTSFORD, N.Y.—The No. 2 William Smith soccer team snapped Nazareth's nine-match unbeaten streak today, as the Herons defeated the Golden Flyers 1-0 in a non-conference match. William Smith (14-0-1) earned its 11th straight win and its 14th shutout this season.

Dineo Mmutla was the first Nazareth (8-3-4) has allowed since a 1-1 tie with Stevens back on Sept. 24. The Golden Flyers were 7-0-2 in their previous nine games.

Amanda Davis stopped the two shots that she faced to log her 11th shutout this year. The Herons dominated offensively out-shooting the Golden Flyers 20-4. William Smith also held a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Herons had a scoring chance early in the match, when first-year
Madeline Buckley banged a shot off the crossbar. The game remained scoreless until the 74th minute.
With 15:36 remaining first-year Mmutla broke through for her third goal in the last two games. Junior
Kelsey Hill pushed a pass ahead to Mmutla who found a gap in the Nazareth defense and sent a blast into the back of the net. It was Mmutla's sixth tally of the season.
Abbie Carey finished with seven saves in goal for Nazareth.
The Herons will play their final match of the regular season when they take on Bard on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. in Troy, N.Y. The match was originally scheduled for Oct. 14 at Bard, but lightning forced the game to be postponed.
