Statesmen to host 2, honor veterans this weekend

The Hobart hockey team will host No. 10 Neumann for its home opener at The Cooler on Friday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. The Statesmen will be back in The Cooler on Saturday night, hosting conference foe No. 7 Utica at 7 p.m.

On Friday in honor of Veterans Day, all veterans will receive free admission to the game. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $2 for children under 12. HWS students, faculty and staff are admitted free with a valid HWS ID.

The Statesmen bring a 2-1-0 overall record and a 1-0-0 mark in the ECAC West into their home opener. Senior Greg Ciciola and junior Cam Miller lead Hobart with four points apiece. Ciciola has recorded a goal and three assists, and Miller has logged a team-high four assists. Junior Frank Salituro has scored a team-high three goals. Junior Nick Broadwater has played 119:30 between the pipes. He's sporting a 1.51 goals against average and a .941 save percentage. Broadwater earned his first shutout of the season in a 4-0 win over Manhattanville last week.  Junior Marty Ausserhofer earned his first victory of the season, playing all 60 minutes in goal at Salve Regina. He's sporting a 1.00 goals against average and a .957 save percentage.

The Knights come to Geneva for their conference opener with a 1-0-0 record. Neumann defeated No. 15 Curry 5-4 last weekend. Dave Gervais and William Lacasse shared team-high honors with three points apiece. Gervais recorded a goal and two assists and Lacasse chipped in three assists. Ross MacKinnon played all 60 minutes in goal and finished with 25 saves. He is sporting a .862 save percentage.

The Pioneers will host Westfield State College on Friday night, before coming to The Cooler on Saturday. Going into the weekend, Utica has posted a 3-1-0 overall record and an 0-1-0 mark in league play. Trever Hertz and Tim Coffman have each recorded a team-high seven points. Hertz has logged four goals and three assists, while Coffman posted a goal and six assists. Nick Therrin and Evan Smith have split time in goal for Utica. Therrien is sporting a 1.50 goals against average and a .936 save percentage. Smith has recorded a 2.52 goals against average and a .911 save percentage.
