Hobart hockey ranked sixth in the East Region

The Hobart hockey team was selected sixth in the first Division III regional rankings of the season announced by the NCAA this week. The Statesmen are 13-8-2 overall and 3-6-1 in the ECAC West with two regular season games remaining.

Senior Matthew Wallace leads the team with 15 goals and 23 points. He ranks seventh in the ECAC West in points and tied for second in goals. Junior Gregory Ciciola is right behind him with nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points. Senior Patrick Moriarty is tied for third in the conference with his team-high 17 assists.

Sophomore Nick Broadwater has seen time in goal in 22 games. He is second in the ECAC West and 10th in the nation with a .927 save percentage, and is sporting a 2.41 goals against average.

This weekend, Hobart will play two ECAC West games at Manhattanville. The Valiants, 10th in the regional rankings, are 14-8-1 and 2-8-0 in the conference. Mickey Lang is leading the team with 15 goals and 26 points. Pierre-Olivier Lemieux has seen the majority of time in goal and has recorded a .912 save percentage and a 2.28 goals against average.

The Statesmen will play at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18 and again at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Playland Ice Casino. Fans can follow the action online with Live Stats.
