GENEVA, N.Y.—
Senior Lukas Petersen scored the game-winning goal in the 47th minute to lead the No. 10 Hobart College soccer team to a 2-1 victory over the University of Rochester in a non-conference game played this afternoon at Cozzens Field. The Statesmen are now 6-0-0 and the Yellowjackets fall to 4-2-0.

Rochester started off the scoring in the 30th minute. Statesmen goalie senior Charlie Hale came out to play the ball, but Max Fan was able to chip a shot over his head and into the back of the net. Brian Knouse set up the play that put the Yellowjackets up 1-0.

Hobart answered just over seven minutes later. Junior Ian McGarty pushed a short pass to senior Tommy Hayes who was positioned right in front of the goal mouth. Hayes slid a shot past the Rochester keeper to tie up the game. It was Hayes' first goal this fall.

In the 47th minute, the Statesmen earned a corner kick. Sophomore Kaeghan Kelly sent the ball into the box. Senior Evan Grey sent a pass to Petersen who drilled a bicycle kick into the net for what proved to be the game-winner.

Hale played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with seven saves. Scott Garfing stopped six shots for Rochester. The Statesmen out-shot the Yellowjackets 13-10. Each team logged three corner kicks.

Hobart will travel to take on Cortland on Monday, Sept. 19, for another non-league game beginning at 7 p.m.
