Dineo Mmutla scored on William Smith's first shot of the game. She took a pass from Frary and placed a shot out of the keeper's reach to put the Herons up 1-0 just 10:58 into the match.
William Smith was relentless in the second half, and had a number of scoring opportunities. With a little over 23 minutes remaining, senior
Jamie Sawyer put a shot on goal through a crowd in front of the net and forced Brianna Thibeau to make a diving save. With just over 21 minutes left, a shot by senior
Leslie Carrese was just barely tipped by Thibeau and then banged off the crossbar.
After the Golden Knights committed a foul in the box, the Herons were awarded a penalty kick in the 85th minute. Frary capitalized on the opportunity for her sixth goal of the season which put William Smith up 2-0.
Senior
Amanda Davis played all 90 minutes in goal and stopped the only shot she faced to secure her sixth shutout this fall. Thibeau finished with 12 saves. The Herons out-shot Clarkson 18-2 and held a 2-0 edge in corner kicks. William Smith has now recorded eight straight shutouts to start the season.
The Herons will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 30, when they host Skidmore for another Liberty League contest.
