Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College basketball team earned its sixth straight win, beating Bard 91-45 in a Liberty League contest in Bristol Gym this afternoon. Sophomore forward
Richie Bonney scored a game-high 15 points and corralled seven rebounds for the Statesmen.
Hobart (13-2, 6-0) shot 52.4 percent from the floor, made nine 3-pointers, and sank 16-of-20 free throw attempts. The Statesmen led from start to finish and enjoyed a 45-23 advantage on the glass and committed six fewer turnovers (11-17).
Bonney was 6-of-7 from the floor including an alley-oop dunk set up by junior guard
Stefan Thompson. Thompson contributed 14 points, a game-high five assists, and three steals. Senior forward
Matt Pebole added 14 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore guard
Joe Gibbons had 13 points, including a jam of his own, and four assists while junior forward
Sean Peer chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds off the bench.
Despite first half foul trouble, first-year guard Francis Arnold shared team-high scoring honors with first-year guard Chris McNaughton with eight points apiece. The Raptors shot just 26 percent from the floor, but went 15-of-16 from the line.
The 46-point win is Hobart's most lopsided victory since defeating Union by 50 (97-47) on Feb. 5, 2010.
The Statesmen will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 27, when they visit Rensselaer. The Raptors return home to host Clarkson on the same day. Both games are slated to tipoff at 8 p.m.
