The Hobart College hockey team will play a home-and-home series with the No. 11 Utica College Pioneers this weekend. The Statesmen will travel to Utica, N.Y., for an ECAC West game against Pioneers in the Aud tonight beginning at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Utica will make the trip to The Cooler for another conference contest at 7 p.m.
Hobart brings a 10-7-0 overall mark and a 1-3-0 record in the conference into the weekend. Senior
Greg Ciciola and junior
Frank Salituro lead the Statesmen with 14 points apiece. Ciciola has recorded a team-high eight goals and chipped in six assists. Salituro leads Hobart with seven assists and has added seven goals.
Junior goalie
Marty Ausserhofer sits atop the ECAC West and ranks ninth in the nation with a 1.95 goals against average and ranks second in the conference and 19th in the country with a .923 save percentage. Last Saturday, he recorded his first career shutout with a 4-0 win over Potsdam, improving his record to 9-3-0 in goal this winter. Ausserhofer's .750 win percentage is the best in the conference and seventh in Division III.
Utica starts the weekend with a 12-5-1 overall record and a 1-3-1 mark in the ECAC West. Trever Hertz leads the team and the league with 27 points and 17 assists. He also shares a team-high with 10 goals this season. Jon Gaffney has also produced 10 goals this season. Evan Smith has played the most minutes in goal for the Pioneers. He has recorded a .922 save percentage and a 1.98 goals against average.
