Hobart hockey announces fan appreciation weekend

The Hobart College hockey team will begin 2012 hosting Curry and Brockport State at The Cooler this weekend. The Hobart Athletic Department would like to thank the fans for their support of the Statesmen by offering free admission to the Hobart hockey games on Friday, Jan. 6 and Saturday, Jan. 7.

Hobart (5-6) will take on Curry in a non-conference game on Friday, Jan. 6 beginning at 7 p.m., and then the Statesmen will host Brockport State for another non-league contest on Saturday, Jan 7 at 4 p.m.

Senior Greg Ciciola leads Hobart with 10 points on four goals and a team-high six assists. Junior Frank Salituro is right behind him with a team-high five goals and three assists for eight points. Junior Marty Ausserhofer has seen the majority of time in goal and sits atop the ECAC West with a 1.73 goals against average and a .926 save percentage.

Prior to taking on Connecticut College on Wednesday, Jan. 4, Curry is sporting a 7-2 overall record. Payden Benning leads the Colonels with 17 points on 11 goals and six assists. Ryan Barlock has recorded a team-high 11 assists this season. Derek Mohney has seen the most time in between the pipes for Curry. He has posted a 2.61 goals against average and a .906 save percentage.

The Golden Eagles (4-6-2) will host Neumann on Friday evening before coming to The Cooler on Saturday. Going into the weekend, Ian Finnerty leads Brockport State in points (22) and assists (14) and has chipped in eight goals. James Cody has logged a team-high 10 goals and ranks second with eight assists and 18 points. Oliver Wren has played the most minutes in goal and has recorded a 4.90 goals against average and a .874 save percentage.
