Tournament Bracket
The Hobart College men's basketball team will begin its Wendy's College Classic title defense at home against Roberts Wesleyan at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28. The Statesmen will host one of two doubleheaders to open the 47th annual tournament with the University of Rochester and RIT opening the session at 6 p.m.
Tickets for each doubleheader can be purchased at each venue, prior to the start of the game. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for students, children and veterans. Proceeds from the tournament will help benefit The B. Thomas Golisano Hope Lodge, which provides free temporary lodging for cancer and trauma patients and their caregivers.
Hobart is 1-2 with a 69-56 win over Messiah College. Senior guard
Stefan Thompson, the MVP of the 2011 Wendy's College Classic, leads the Statesmen in scoring, 19.0 ppg, and assists, 6.3 apg. Junior forward
Richie Bonney adds 17.3 ppg and 6.3 rpg. Senior forward
Sean Peer leads Hobart on the glass with 10.3 rpg.
The Redhawks are 2-2 following Saturday's 66-59 win over Virginia Union in the third place game of the Gannon Tournament. Senior forward Devin Grimes leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.5 ppg and 10.8 rpg. Junior forward Patrick Downer contributes 10.8 ppg and 3.0 spg.
Since 1970, Hobart is 28-10 against Roberts Wesleyan, but the Redhawks have won each of the past five meetings. The two schools have met on the hardwood since 2000 when Roberts Wesleyan won 111-107 in double overtime.
Friday's semifinals, as well as Saturday's third place and championship games will be at the U of R. The winner of the Hobart/Roberts Wesleyan game will play the winner of the Nazareth/Geneseo game at 6 p.m., while the winner of the Fisher/Brockport game will play the winner of the Rochester/RIT game at 8 p.m.
SUNY Geneseo will host Friday's consolation games at 6 and 8 p.m., while Saturday consolation games will be played at Roberts Wesleyan College at 1 and 3 p.m.
The men's third-place game will begin right after of the women's third place game, with tipoff slated for 3 p.m.
The 47th Annual Championship on the men's side will begin at 8 p.m.
