Cabrini Game Day Central
The Hobart College basketball is less than 24 hours away from making just its second NCAA tournament appearance in 102 varsity seasons. The Statesmen will take on the Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops in the first round on Friday, March 2. Tipoff at Cabrini College's Nerney Field House is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
Tickets are $6 for general admission, $3 for senior citizens, students and children. Children under 2 are free.
Hobart (22-5) has four players averaging more than 11 points per game led by senior forward
Matt Pebole. The native of Red Bank, N.J., just about 90 minutes from Radnor, Pa., is producing team highs of 13.8 ppg and 7.3 rpg. Junior guard
Stefan Thompson runs the point and averages 13.2 ppg, 4.4 apg, 2.9 rpg, and 1.5 spg. Sophomore forward
Richie Bonney adds 12.9 ppg and is second on the team with 6.7 rpg. Sophomore guard
Joe Gibbons contributes 11.7 ppg and 4.4 rpg.
Ohio Wesleyan (20-7) has two players averaging double digits led by NCAC Player of the Year, senior Tim Brady. Tenth in the nation in scoring, he produces a team-high 22.6 ppg. Junior Andy Winters is logging 11.4 ppg with team highs of 5.5 apg and 1.4 spg. Marshall Morris leads the Battling Bishops on the glass, collecting 7.6 caroms per night.
The host Cavaliers (26-1) will take on Castleton State (19-9) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The winners will meet at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 3.
