Dutchmen post 3-1 win over Saints in William Smith Classic

GENEVA, N.Y.—Lebanon Valley College picked up its first win of the season by a 3-1 count over St. Lawrence University in the second game of the William Smith Classic. Laura Brumbach scored a goal and assisted on another for the Dutchmen.

Lebanon Valley (1-3) needed just 72 seconds to breaking into the scoring column. Megan Harris netted her first goal of the season, batting home a shot off a teammate's stick that bounced off the post. Just shy of the nine minute mark, the Dutchmen added to their lead when Kelsey Miller deflected a shot by Brumbach into the back of the cage.

The Saints (0-4) got on the board in the 23rd minute in a similar fashion. Courtney Cartier redirected Emma Berry's drive to make it a 2-1 game going into halftime.

In the 60th minute, Brumbach scored an insurance goal, driving a shot from the right slot inside the far post for her first goal of the season.

LVC enjoyed a 17-7 advantage in shots while penalty corners were even, 10-10.

In goal, Chloe Baro picked up the win with three saves. Brady Cooper turned back five shots for St. Lawrence.

The Saints will play Manhattanville in Game 3 of the Classic at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16. The Dutchmen will follow at 3 p.m., playing the host Herons.
