Heron field hockey hops up to No. 15

Complete NFHCA Poll

The William Smith College field hockey team hopped up four spots to No. 15 in this week's National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll. The Herons defeated Ithaca 5-0 and previously unbeaten, No. 18 Rochester 2-1 last week to improve to 6-1.

Senior forward Annie Kietzman continued her torrid scoring pace with a team-high six points. She recorded a goal and an assist against both the Bombers and Yellowjackets. Kietzman's goal against Rochester made her the 12th Heron to record 100 career points. She has 101 career points (35g, 31a), three points behind Sue Thibodeau '97 and Sheila McKevitt '03 in 10th place.

Kietzman has at least three points in every game this season, the longest such streak by a Heron in at least a decade. She leads the nation in assists per game (1.57) and is fifth in points per game (4.14) and 21st in goals per game (1.29).

Juniors Taylor Cappello, Amy David, and Margaret McConnell have also posted double digit points this season with 18, 12, and 10, respectively.

In goal, sophomore Catherine Hare is 6-0 with a 0.94 goals against average and an .821 save percentage.

William Smith will travel to Nazareth on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
