Box Score Three different goal scorers led No. 15 William Smith to a 3-0 field hockey victory at Union College's Frank Bailey Field today. The Herons, who won for the seventh straight time, improved to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the LIberty League while the Dutchwomen now stand 2-6 overall and 1-3 in league play.
William Smith had a 20-3 shot advantage and had 10 corners to Union's eight.
Catherine Hare made one stop to earn the win and
Taryn Little played the final 14:16 in the visitor's net. Molly McCune made seven saves for the Dutchwomen, including five in the first half.
Taylor Cappello opened the scoring 9:29 into the game. She blasted home a high shot from the outside right post off a rebound for her 10th of the year.
Annie Kietzman's 12th tally of the season came at 32:06. She took a feed from
Madison Finn from close inside and scored through traffic for a 2-0 William Smith lead.
Just seven minutes and 49 seconds later,
Morgan Atanasio closed out the scoring by converting a penalty stroke for her first goal of the year.
William Smith hosts St. Lawrence in a league game Friday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m., while Union will play a non league contest on Tuesday at Morrisville State.
