Statesmen fall in ECAC Metro Tournament

Box Score The Hobart College soccer team fell 3-1 in an ECAC Metro Tournament quarterfinal played this afternoon in Albany, N.Y. The Statesmen, who were the No. 5 seed, finished their season with an 11-8-1 overall record.

The No. 4 seed and host Gators (11-4-4) took a 3-0 lead in the first half. Kyle LeClerc put Sage on the scoreboard with a header in the 19th minute. Kevin Dommreis earned the assist. In the 22nd minute, Gustavo Trinidad chipped in his 10th goal of the season after a pass from Christian Pint to make it 2-0. LeClerc added his second goal of the afternoon in the 26th minute. Trinidad was credited with the assist.

The Statesmen broke through with five seconds left in the match. Sophomore Tyler Niles notched his second goal this season after a corner. First-year Charlie Kelly registered the assist. Kelly finished his rookie season with a team-high 29 points on 12 goals and five assists this year.

The Gators finished with an 8-6 advantage in shots. Hobart held an 8-2 lead in corners. TJ Zehner played all 90 minutes in goal for Sage and finished with three saves. Junior Mike Lucas played the opening half in goal for Hobart. Sophomore Tyler Serafine came in for the second half and finished with three saves.
