Chelsea Dunay were named to the 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire All-America teams today. Zitoli became Heron soccer's 20th first team All-American and Dunay earned a spot on the third team.
A starter in every game, Zitoli anchors the Herons' stifling backline. The 2013 Liberty League Player of the Year and unanimous first team selection has helped William Smith tie a season record with 19 shutouts this year. The Herons lead Division III with a .864 shutout percentage and rank second in the nation with a 0.27 goals against average. In 11 games this season, Zitoli and the Heron defense have limited opponents to five or fewer total shots. William Smith is currently riding the program's longest shutout streak, going the last 1,292:07 without allowing a goal. Zitoli also scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over then No. 16 Skidmore this season.
The two-time All-Liberty League selection and NSCAA All-East Region first team honoree has played in 83 career games. Zitoli has posted three goals and an assist for seven career points. In her William Smith career, the Herons have logged a 73-7-8 record.
The 2013 Liberty League Co-Defensive Player of the Year and All-East Region first team selection, Dunay has started every match and has played all but 24:06 in goal this season. An all-conference first team honoree, she ranks second in Division III with a 0.28 goals against average and fourth with a .910 save percentage. Dunay has posted a William Smith record for victories in a season with a 21-1-0 mark in goal. She has also earned a Heron single season record with 16 shutouts. Dunay stopped a season-high seven shots against then No. 24 TCNJ and then No. 16 Skidmore. She stopped all five shots she faced in a 1-0 win over then No. 1 Messiah.
Dunay has played in 52 career games and has posted a 0.38 career goals against average and a .888 career save percentage. She has registered a 36-3-4 record in her career in goal and logged 26 career shutouts. Dunay, who also earned Liberty League honorable mention in 2012, ranks fifth on the William Smith career list for wins.
