Box Score The Rochester Institute of Technology won the battle of the boards on the way to a 69-59 Liberty League victory over William Smith College in Henrietta, N.Y. The Tigers improved to 10-13 overall, 5-8 in the Liberty League while the Herons slipped to 14-9, 8-6.
RIT outrebounded William Smith 49-32, the Herons most lopsided negative rebounding margin of the season. The Tigers also shot 45.5 percent from the floor and limited William Smith to 33.3 percent shooting.
RIT took a 5-4 lead on a 3-pointer by Jess Kramer at the 17:14 mark of the first half and never relinquished the lead. The Herons managed to tie the game on three occassions, with the latest coming at 15-15 with 12 minutes remaining in the half. From there, the Tigers went on a 15-5 run for a 33-20 lead. A jumper by Sarah Wolcott gave RIT its largest lead of the half at 37-22 with 2:20 left. The Tigers led 40-27 at halftime.
The Tigers pushed the lead to 47-33 on a layup by Courtney Tennant with just over 14 minutes left in regulation, but the Herons fought their way back into the game. Over the next 9:25, William Smith went on a 21-8 run that cut the lead to 58-54 with five minutes left on the clock. Senior

Sasha Borenstein added two of her three treys during the run.
With the Tigers clinging to a six point lead with under a minute remaining, Jackie Hom went to the line. After connecting on the first attempt, Hom misfired on the second but Tennant pulled down the rebound and the Herons were forced to foul. Tennant hit both free throws to end William Smith's comeback bid.
Sophomore
Chloe Hayter led William Smith with her sixth double-double of the season on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Salvatore added 12 points and a game-high five steals and Borenstein finished with nine points. Junior
Erin O'Brien recorded eight points, five assists, and three steals.
Tennant produced a game-high 20 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Leslie Havens and Ashlynn Palmitesso contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.
William Smith will return home for its final two games of the regular season. The Herons host Clarkson at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15 and St. Lawrence at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16.
William Smith is tied for fourth place in the Liberty League with Union. The top four teams in the conference qualify for the league championship tournament.
