Jacqueline Murphy became just the fourth Heron to record 800 career rebounds as William Smith College breezed by Bard College 67-44 in Stevenson Gym this afternoon. Just over four minutes into the game, she pulled down her first rebound, an offensive board, to hit the milestone.
Murphy finished the day with a modest five points and four rebounds. With 803 career rebounds, she trails only Wendi Schoff '98 (858), Gwen Scott '82 (877) and Jennifer Goodell '97 (901) on the Herons' all-time list.
William Smith (12-2, 5-0 Liberty League) used a 15-0 run in the first five minutes of the first half and a 10-0 run to start the second half to cruise to its 11th straight victory. Senior 
Sasha Borenstein scored 16 of her game-high 19 points before halftime, as the Herons shot 55 percent from the field and went into the break with a 38-23 lead. Borenstein made all four of her 3-point tries, raising her career total to 244, seven behind William Smith record holder Jill Brower '93.
Junior 
Chloe Hayter finished with 10 points, and senior 
Erin O'Brien added three points, three rebounds and a game-high eight assists. O'Brien now has 303 career assists, fifth on the Herons all-time list, 22 behind No. 4 Julie Perry.
Eleven of the 14 Herons to play in the game scored at least two points.
Bard (1-11, 0-3) got 10 points and seven rebounds from sophomore Abbey Labrecque.
The Herons next host Skidmore at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24.
